The Volunteering feature enables union admin to create and mange volunteering programs for students, offering streamlined processes for application, approval, and participation.

1. Program Setup

  1. Navigate to the Volunteering Section:
    • Log in to the Union Portal.

    • Click on Student Services on the top menu bar.

    • Select Volunteering from the drop-down menu.

  2. Start Setup:

    • Click the Setup button on the Volunteering dashboard.

  3. Choose a Step Process:

    • Decide between two options:

      • Single Step Process: Select this option if your volunteer programs are open to everyone, i.e., anyone can apply.

      • Two Step Process: Select this option to limit program participants. Applicants must first apply to become a volunteer and be approved by the admin (See step 3. Setting Up and Approval Form below). Only approved students can access all volunteering opportunities. 

    • Note: The selected option will apply to all volunteer programs created on the portal.

2. Creating Volunteering Programs

  1. Start a New Program:

    • On the Volunteering dashboard page, click the New Program button.

  2. Build the Volunteer Form:

    • Follow the guided steps to create a volunteer form.

    • Add time slots for the program. Check Managing Volunteering Programs for guided details on how to add a time slots.

  3. Preview and Publish:

    • Preview the form to ensure accuracy.

    • Click Publish to make the program live.

3. Setting Up an Approval Form

  • Only Applicable for Two Step Process:

    1. Click the New Approval Form button on the Volunteering dashboard.

    2. Follow the steps to create an approval form.

    3. Students must apply and be approved through this form to access and apply for all volunteering opportunities.

  • To review and approve applications:

    1. From the Volunteer dashboard, navigate to the Approval Processes table at the bottom 

    2. Click on the form title to view all applications. From there you can review and approve each application.
